Walk for Megan

My cell phone app records I took  5569  steps to complete my 5K walk at Savage Mill, MD on Jan. 27, 2018.    My daily average runs at 2686 paces per day.  That seems like wild numbers, but that's what we have.  I'm glad to put up a few numbers for Megan!

This time I had a sidekick, Peggy.  We enjoyed the walk at the Savage Mill trail along the Little Patuxent River.  We crossed an historic bridge (see photo) along our trail.  This bridge dates back to the mid 1800s and claims being one (maybe the only) of a few left in the states.  It was made of iron throughout.  It was a bridge used for crossing the river by the B and O railroad.  It even has some historical significance during the civil war times.

Peggy and I enjoyed the outing together and treated ourselves with an ice cream cone after the walk.  (Peggy--mint chocolate chip and David----butter pecan)  I thought of Megan's many "bridges"  she has had to cross during her battle with cancer.

Walk With Megan

I walked a 5K YRE (year round event) sponsored by a Laurel, MD Volksmarch group.  The walk was located about 7-8 mi. from our apartment, so it was easy to get to.  The walk started at a Holiday Inn where the walk directions were located.  I have a little booklet and each Volksmarch event I stamp a location and verification in this booklet.  Off I went following directions...turn right at Oxford...take a left at Lakeshore...etc.  The walk took me through nice residential areas in Laurel and ended up near a lake right in the middle of the town and then back to the starting point, Holiday Inn.

I passed right along side of the lake and discovered a group of geese.  This reminded me of Megan, because I have walked with her at a local park near the Chenango River, near her home in Binghamton..  Here the geese are in quite of an abundance.  So are the goose droppings...poop....  We had to hop and skip to avoid the mess.  Thankfully, I didn't have that problem on this walk.                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Totals toward my goal --100K

Walk With Megan

Well it's a start..5K walked at Columbia Mall on Jan. 14, 2018.  You can say 5% of the 100k is complete, only 95k left to go!   To accomplish this I walked around the perimeter inside four times, twice on the upper floor and twice on the lower floor.  The temps outside were in the teens, so I thought this would be the best option.  Waiting now for some warmer weather so I can enjoy this project outdoors.

A couple pictures, include a group of dog owners going through their training session with their black labs.  Another picture just looks down from the upper level to the ground floor.

I found the walk becomes kind of a meditative thing...thinking of Megan and all.  You might call it a walk in prayer, I suppose.

Here are the totals so far....

                  Km walked previously             0K
